The ASBL Le Pax Funèbre is the first and only philanthropic funeral home in Belgium whose purpose is non-profit.
Our purely altruistic goal consists of offering citizens funerals at cost price in absolute dignity and respect for the convictions, wishes of the deceased, and their loved ones.

Step-by-step procedure of Islamic funeral rites
From ritual washing to burial
1. The Ghusl (Purifying ritual washing in 3 stages)
The washing is performed by qualified persons of the same gender as the deceased (men for a man, women for a woman, or spouses). It includes:
- Minor ablutions (Wudu) as performed before prayer, without introducing water into the mouth or nose.
- Three full ritual washings of the body with pure lukewarm water and soap or jujube leaves (Sidr).
- A final scented rinse with camphor water (Kafur), ensuring purity and soothing serenity.
2. The Kafan (Simple white shroud) & Tahara Musk
The body is gently dried with clean cloths before shrouding:
- Pure white unstitched fabric shroud (3 pieces for a man, 5 for a woman).
- Gentle anointing with pure non-alcoholic fragrance (Tahara musk) on prostration points (forehead, nose, hands, knees, feet).
- Fastening the shroud with cloth ties that will be untied when placed in the grave.
3. Salat al-Janaza (Funeral Prayer) & Burial
The collective prayer is performed in a mosque or directly at the cemetery:
- Standing prayer with 4 Takbirs, without bowings (Ruku) or prostrations (Sujud), seeking divine mercy.
- Dignified transport to the grave and lowering of the body resting on its right side facing Mecca (Qibla).
- Recitation of supplications (Dua) and brotherly support for the grieving family.

Burial in a Muslim Plot (Rawda) in Belgium
Many Belgian municipalities (Brussels, Liège, Charleroi, Namur, etc.) provide municipal Muslim plots ensuring adherence to Islamic rules:
- Canonical orientation: Graves facing directly towards the Qibla.
- Long-term concession: 25, 30, or 50-year renewable concessions.
- Proximity: Allows children, relatives, and future generations to regularly visit and pray.
- Minimal ecological footprint: No air transport, serene local ceremony.
Air Repatriation Certified by IATA & Consular Authorities
For families wishing the deceased to rest in their native country (Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Turkey, etc.):
- Consular procedures: Obtaining mortuary transit permits, legalizations, and non-contagion certificates.
- Regulated zinc coffin: Enclosure in a sealed zinc coffin with air purification filter certified for air transport.
- Airport transfer: Secure transit to Brussels Airport (Zaventem) or Charleroi and flight tracking to destination.
- Solidarity coordination: Direct handling with repatriation insurances or at the non-profit cost rate of the association.
Support and management
In all other cases, we are at your service:
- Death in hospital (hospital, clinic)
- Death in a nursing home (home)
- Death of a person dependent on a CPAS
- Death with body donation to science
- Tragic death of a child
